Opinionated

I really like Obama. Here's the thing: I want a president who is intelligent and thoughtful. To me that is far more important than what kind of experience he has or doesn't have or even what his specific plans and ideas are. I want to be confident in him as a person, to trust that he will seek out the information and advice he needs, weigh it carefully, and make smart decisions. I believe Obama will do that.

I'm impressed that McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate, even if is all calculated to win him votes (and I don't disagree that the Democrats did the same). I wonder if he'll win over some undecided women or former Hillary supporters by doing so. But he might also lose some hard-core Republicans.

And also, for the record, I am really over Jennifer Lopez spouting off about training for a triathlon "because she wants her babies to be proud of her." AS IF.

Agree/disagree/opine on your own in the comments ...

ETA Sunday 8/31: The more I think/read about Sarah Palin, the more I feel like Tree does.

I try not to talk politics...so I'll comment on J Lo.

Even if that's why she's doing it...who says that kind of stuff? Just makes you sound unintelligent.

I've been blogging for nearly three years and have NEVER mentioned politics but I had to talk about the Sarah Palin thing, too. Just WOW.

I usually don't talk politics, but here I'll say I am a Mama for Obama.

I agree 100 % an everything you just said!

You know what's really funny? How opinionated BRITISH people are about our choice for an American President...

Everyday there's some "reader comment" blurb in the papers about Obama...

I just want to yell "WHY DOES THIS CONCERN YOU?"

I agree with you 100%, too, and will be casting my absentee ballot the Dems way!

As for J. Lo. Pah!

Well, JLo also claims that she and Mark don't have any hired help, that they do everything for their twins themselves. Uh huh. I know lots of moms of young twins with enough time to train for a triathlon, go to the DNC and look like they just stepped out of a beauty salon.

As for politics, I love it and I love hearing other opinions. As a Canadian with American parents, I'm all for Obama (and I would've supported Hillary too). What I find hard to believe is that someone who could campaign so hard for a Dem candidate could vote Republican out of spite or sore-loserness, or whatever you want to peg it as.

I heard today that it will take about one million dollars for our Canadian Prime Minister to get elected and it will cost the American victor over 100 million to do the same. If that doesn't sum up the difference in our countries, I don't know what does. ;)

Leaders should be smart and work hard, among other things. Can't believe we have a sitting Prez that's proud of having neither quality.

Hadn't heard about J Lo. Whatever, girlfriend. I'll fully admit to training for a triathlon in hopes of losing my ass.

As usual, I have plenty to say about politics, but I will not hijack your comments - except to say "What Lady M said." Word.

I respect Obama (yeah, he's got my vote...) and I'm actually torn about my feelings regarding sarah as the vp running mate. She does NOT support a woman's choice- which kinds makes me SICK to my stomach.

I'm an Obama supporter and I'm not a fan of Palin. I really need to make an appointment to cut my haircut so I can catch up on what's going on with J Lo.

The only thing I like about Palin is that she's from the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised. Nobody from here ever ends up influential in politics, and I'll be watching with interest to see if that affects the debate at all.

I did hear that she's "an environmentalists worst nightmare," though.

I do have to say, I think SO MUCH LESS of Obama for choosing Biden.

Oh, yes, politics are getting all of us crazy and excited this time around. And isn't that great? I love it!

Also, I think Jennifer should definitely throw her name in the VP ring next time. Definitely. I mean, talk about potential.

I think Jennifer Lopez has as much experience to be VP as Sarah Palin.

the Palin thing has me completely freaked. the old guy kicks it, and wtf.

I'm with you. The more I hear about Palin, the more alarmed I am. And I'm beyond pissed that the GOP thinks that women are so stupid as to vote for him just because he's put another person with a vagina on his ticket. It's beyond insulting.

JLO? Whatever. I'm with mothergoosemouse. I'm training for a tri for one reason alone: to drop poundage.

when I first heard about Biden, I was disappointed. After listening to speeches, bio's, and pieces on him I am now at peace with it. And, frankly, I respect the man.

Go obama.

Why won't JLo just go away?
