Vanity unfair

I don't get vanity license plates. I mean, not like "what is the deal with vanity plates," but like I see them, and then spend precious minutes trying to figure out what the hell they meant.

BHAPIE: This one lives in my neighborhood and I swear to you, it took me a year to determine what it means. I couldn't get past "bha-pye" (rhymes with pop-eye). No. "Be happy!" I'm not happy--I just wasted a year of my life on your dumb license plate.

STAUPL8R: Stop-lighter? Stop-later? Staple-a-tor? Stay up later -- now why would I want to do that? I don't get enough sleep as it is.

ICNCYDU: I see Nancy Drew? Inky dinky doo? I can see why, do you? Well, no, I don't. I have no idea what you're trying to express, here.

DCK HTR: Duck hunter? Dock heater? Dick hater? WHAT?

I'm thinking if you have such an important message to get across, maybe spring for a bumper sticker or a magnet or something. PLZ?

My sis wanted a law passed that if your vanity plate wasn't immediately understandable, you would have to have a bumper sticker explanation. Her opinion was that it would reduce traffic accidents.

I think the last one is "Darth Vader" but they couldn't spell.

Hey, I had vanity plates! My first set was LT JRW, and when I got married I changed them to LT JWM.

There are a lot of vanity plates of the GZUS ilk around here.

Ohmigod... there used to a be a game show in Canada in the 80s/90s (it was very short-lived) called Bumper Stumpers. I SOOOOO could not ever get them. Just like in real life.

LOL! So funny. Out here in Columbus OH there are endless varieties of "Go Bucks" on the license plates. Like, GOBUKIZ (Go Buckeyes) or something dumb like that.

That is hilarious.

I love the duck hater.

Yes but sometimes when there are misinterpretation it's pretty damn funny: http://tinyurl.com/5h7ozq

And I second what Mandy said - I totally forgot about Bumper Stumpers until she mentioned it - and I never could figure them out. BTW, in case you were wondering, Canadian game shows usually suck.

I had one when I was like...22, it said, Prfect9 (Perfect 9 as in not a 10 but I'm a damn perfect 9)

I had one later that was on my Suziki side kick that said, "kicknit" as in kicking it in my side kick automobile

I am married now with 2 children. Our last name is Reason, our plates say, "4Reasns" on mine and "Reasns4" on my husbands

Are those so bad....

Dick hater. I laughed out loud at that. My parents have a wierd plate and people always ask me what they're trying to say too.

KNFMKR. Its supposed to be Knifemaker

I can't ever figure them out either and I'm sort of perplexed why people spend extra $$ to get them. You really have NOTHING better to spend your money on? Seriously, I can think of 100 better things right off the top of my head.

Mandy - I remember that show! It was here too (maybe under a different name, but I definitely remember being home with the flu as a kid and watching it). So stoopid.

I totally miss vanity plates. They're pretty uncommon around here.

The ones that kill me are the plates that tell what type of car the driver has. 08 BMW. Thanks. I would have never known you were in a BMW otherwise.

Have you ever seen that book CDC by William Steig? You would probably hate it!

Love your final assessment of what DCK HTR must be!
