NYCouture

Many posts brewing (if I can get to them before I go back to the airport yet again), but here's a quick fashion report from the streets and subways of New York:
  • The bee's knees: I thought it was a silly rumor, but it's apparently true that knee-length, skinny, cuffed shorts are back in style. I saw them all over. Word to the wise: This is not the best look for everyone.

  • The spelling bee: To the woman spotted wearing a t-shirt bearing the message "You're boyfriend says hi": You're ostensibly snarky witticism loses all of its punch, and then some, when you're punctuation is so distractingly wrong.

  • Be all you can be: It takes a lot of confidence (or perhaps insanity) to wear a three-piece lavender suit, then bring it up a notch with a matching shirt and tie. But it's all for nothing if you don't have the coordinating lavender snakeskin cowboy boots. Then you're really ready to take on the A train to Lefferts Blvd.

And this just in (non-fashion news): Our butterfly party was cool, but this really takes the cake.

And I'm sure those cuffed knee-length shorts have an extra low rise, just to add insult to injury (not for those wearing them, but for those who have to see others wearing them).

Lavender three piece suit? Please tell me you put the camera phone to good use and captured that sight for all of us to enjoy.

That birthday party theme is a testament to resisting peer pressure (on the part of the parents). I love it.

Glad you're back safe and sound. Happy Father's Day to Jeff!

Alert the apostrophe police! (that is, me - long live the grammar nerds!)

MGM, I so wish I had a picture of that guy. I didn't have time to whip out the phone as he sauntered by. But go here for an idea.

Yeah- exactly. Those knee length shorts only look good on Jennifer Anniston in a size 1. Not so good in a size 12..

I have to admit I do have a pair of the cuffed knee-length shorts, and I'm much closer to a size 12 than a size 2. But I didn't get too skinny a cut, and for me they are CERTAINLY better than too-short. Trust me on this.

That t-shirt slogan just made me cringe, and I didn't even see it.

You and I must have been on the same wavelength with the birthday party thing yesterday! :-)

Hmmmm, maybe the suit is actually the Easter Bunny's secret disguise for the rest of the year. LOL

I can't help it. The first thing I thought of was a marshmallow Peep.

Funny, I was tossing the sunday paper into the recycling and saw that kmart, j c penny and some other mass retailer had ads featuring tight long shorts. Seeing them in their ads made me hopeful that the shorts of horror are on their way out.
