Mayberry moment #3: At the post office, four sheets of white office paper are taped on the wall above the P.O. boxes, along with a few ribbons and bows. The message reads "Happy 105th Birthday Harvey!"
Then, when I stop at the counter stocked with forms and supplies, I find two large pieces of posterboard reading "Get Well Soon Tom!" Each is covered with personal inscriptions from postal patrons. Tom is one of the guys who works at the counter.
You can't make this stuff up.

I love it. I grew up in a small town. To this day, when I go home and want to see everyone I just head to WalMart or the post office.
Love it. Surprised they didn't post a birth announcement welcoming Opie last year!
That's nice, reminds me of RI a bit.
Awwww. So cute.
(And a tad frightening if they know the age, whereabouts, and health of all!)
You know my husband spent a lot of time where you live because he used to work for a company with headquarters there. The things that always surprised him were how genuinely nice people are and that some people came to work on snowshoes and cross country skis :o)
105??? Goodness, what's in the water there? :-)
