Jo: Did it hurt when your babies came out?
Me: [saying] Yes. But it was worth it. [thinking] Please don't make have The Talk right here in the bathroom at day care.
Jo: I'm not going to have any babies when I'm a grown-up. I've been through enough as a kid!

oh that's perfect.
hilarious!!!
"Well, no. It didn't hurt when they came out. Actually, I was feeling pretty damn fine right then.
Later on, however. That's another story altogether!"
(I agree with Jo - she's been through a lot, especially in the last six weeks!)
I love it when little kids sound as though they've lived a hundred years.
Guffaw!
Ha!
I had to have The Talk (sort of) a few weeks back. I explained to my older daughter that she got stuck and had to come out through a cut in my belly. Fine. Good. No problem.
When I told the younger one she came out through my nether regions, her 3-year-old face froze, her eyes grew gigantic and she said in total wonder, "Through there?!?!" pointing at her own crotch. I couldn't help snickering.
staring down labour again, i start to wonder if Jo isn't inordinately wise...
Jo is very wise!
My kids love hearing the story of how they were born. After one telling of my daughter-sponsored c-section, my son said "I'm so glad that I'm a boy" and my daughter said, "Yeah, but you could get reincarnated as a girl" and he said," that's true." What the?
