The bad news is we're back at the hospital.
The good news is that as setbacks go, this one isn't awful. (Although hearing the words "If it was my child, I'd want her to have the cat scan tonight--I wouldn't wait until tomorrow" wasn't exactly reassuring.) Jo just needs to spend a little more time with an IV pump and a couple of syringes of antibiotics.
And as far as amenities go, our local children's ward is kicking SF's butt, what with the superspacious private room and bath. And the slippery vinyl sofa is way better for parental sleep than the slippery vinyl recliner. Oh and here, the cafeteria staff is not on strike, so I can actually eat. Yay for Mayberry.
mayberry mom ... all appendectomy, all the time!

I hope that she recovers quickly! Hugs to you all.
Poor poor baby!
I'm so sorry...here's hoping for a speedy recovery (that sticks.)
Get well soon Miss Jo!
I hope she's on the mend soon!
Oh, poor Jo!! I am so sorry. I hope everything is back to normal soon.
Oh no! Where are you? Are you here in town at Childrens?
Im sorry to hear that but glad she's getting what she needs.
You poor thing! You will definitely need a holiday or a trip to the spa when this is all over.
Oh jesus girl, can you ever catch a break!
Thanks for the lead on the headphones, I got a pair.
Speedy Recovery to Jo!
Oh dear! Glad to hear your hospital accommodations are better than SF (though I'd like to think that had you been in the east bay we would have given you a better stay ;-)). Speedy recovery to Jo!
Please keep me posted. We're still on the road, so not able to check in as frequently as usual, but we want to know how she's doing.
And as always, please shower her with hugs and kisses from us.
Sigh.
Here's hoping she's home soon.
I'm so sorry to read that. At least she's in her home city this time. That helps a tiny bit I suppose.
I hope the syringes are just for delivering orally the medicine she didn't want to take... I hope she's better IMMEDIATELY!
I hope your little girl gets better soon!
Ack! Wishing a speedy recovery and extra dessert on the hospital meal tray.
Oh poor Jo. My hopes for a quick rwecovery. And hope you hang in there, too.
Sending well wishes!
When we were at St. Louis Children's Hospital, it was like Club Med for my daughter. While my husband and I were in classes, a volunteer would come get her and take her to the play room. She had a captive audience to do project after project and her stack of artwork was about 6 inches thick! They had a rooftop garden overlooking Forest Park and a library stocked with great books. If the playroom was closed, she hung out at the nurses station and sang and danced for them. They even gave her a real stethescope with her nickname on it. She asks when we can go back!
And the TV was children's programming all the time. They brought her snacks wherever she was. And she got to eat in bed.
Other than when she was getting treated, she had a great time. I am thankful that what should have been the worst four days of her life were fun for her.
hugs to you and the whole family.
OH NO!!!!
and HOW did we not meet in SF?????? I am so sad.
Oooh, poor baby and poor parents!!! I hope everyone is on the mend soon.
Hugs... Bless her heart, I hope she recovers quickly!
