So the Santa Float came by a couple of days ago. It's a fire truck fully decked out in Christmas lights and it ferries SANTA! around our whole town, street by street, over the course of a week until he passes every single house. Here's us watching with our neighbors (at the end you can see my husband is holding the neighbor kid, who ran out of his house so fast he forgot to put on shoes).

That is so awesome; I love hometown stuff like that.
Oh, and you have a ton of snow!
What a fun tradition for the kids!
So cool! I like the idea of Santa on the fire truck. Good matching theme colors.
We had Santa on a fire truck when I was a wee child, but it was just that. Santa. On a fire truck. No special lights, no sleigh, no sound system. Clearly I was much deprived.
This is my first winter in a small town, but the tradition here is quite a bit different... there's a Christmas boat parade down the Intracoastal Waterway. We spent the afternoon on the beach, then wandered across to the canal side to join the rest of our family to watch 50 boats, ranging from tiny fishing skiffs to huge party boats, all decorated with Christmas lights and full of very merry (and presumably drunk) people in Santa hats. It was delightful. My favorite was the one with the huge lit-up toy soldier on the back. It had a miniature cannon. I like it when things go boom.
I can't remember where I was one Christmas when this happened. But I do remember the absolute wonder and thrill for my little kids.
Wow, that's pretty awesome! I can't believe they go down every street.
We have a parade in our town and tree lighting. My kids were supposed to be in it, but I backed out since we had just gotten home from our trip.
I wish the Santa fire truck float would come here :)
We need one of those! those reindeer really look like they're about to take off.
That's so cool. I love Mayberry.
That was a really good Santa.
Our town has Santa on the back of a fire truck too. Not a float, just on the back of the truck. The firemen go to every house & hand out candy canes. Will was screaming & crying (he doesn't like the sirens) Maggie was hiding under the dining room table 'cause she wasn't "ready for Santa to be watching me".
i want a santa float to come by my house. so cute.
How CUTE! Gotta love Mayberry. Do I recall you posting about this last year? Or was it the year before.
You gotta love the Midwest for stuff like this!
