Wow. O-Grandma.

Jeff's grandmother -- white, Catholic, first-generation American, high-school graduate, born and raised and has lived all her 89 years in a small, blue-collar coal town -- voted for Barack Obama today. His mom did too.

That blows me away, frankly. These are a couple of ladies who have been around the block a few million times. They have lived long lives and worked very, very hard. They raised Jeff and his brother alone, when the boys' father and grandfather died within months of each other more than 30 years ago. You want to see salt of the earth? They are it. And they want to see Obama lead the country. Not just because they are opposed to McCain and Clinton, either. They both said they were inspired by Obama's message and his ideas.

Food for thought on a Tuesday night.

As the daughter of an American, and a father who taught US History for his entire university career, I have always been fascinated by US politics. I can wait to see what will happen, and I'm truly glad that I don't have to make the choice between Obama and Clinton.

That should read, "I can't wait to see what will happen..."

Very cool! I'm a big fan of his and find him very inspiring too. Either way, I'm glad this race is prompting more people to take interest and get involved. It's so important.

Interesting! I am anxious to see how this ends, as I am sure the candidates are as well.

I think that's awesome. No matter how we feel about politics, these two women should inspire all of us to get out there & vote!

Excellent. Just. Excellent!

I think my husband's parents voted for Huckabee.

WOW~
Well if these two women raised Jeff then there is that in common because I believe Barack Obama was raised by his mother and grandmother.

I love to hear the wisdom of our elders.

Fascinating. It does seem like this a different kind of race than we've seen for a long time.

My mom, who still kisses her photo of Reagan, voted for Obama in Maryland.

I told her it was the best day of my life.
