The Mad Family

Mad drawing skillz, that is!

The assignment was to draw a self-portrait, so Opie drew himself "with a mad face" (top left; apparently also with some kind of bunny ear/mohawk thing going on. And also he's holding a sword, one that "shoots needles"). Then he required everyone else to draw a Mad self-portrait. Jo is on the upper right with the unibrow. Jeff is at the bottom left, being shot by a needle and shouting at the sword-bearer. Also he's on fire. I am on the far right with angry eyebrows and bared teeth. And in the bottom center, Jo's "surprise" look.

Here's what I found irksome the other day: Our grocery store changed its policy on reusable bags. They no longer offer a 5-cent rebate for each bag you supply--only their branded bags count. I don't use the reusables for the cash, but come on! What a stupid policy.

And you?

You all look just as I've imagined you. Ha!

I would also find that policy irksome.

Excellent madness.

I suppose it's just a matter of time before stores get snobby over me using my re-usable Target bag at "finer" shopping places.

I do believe I would react like Jo's suprise when first told of the new bag policy. Then I would shoot the cashier with a needle.

Would you still get the 5 cent discount if you wrote crude slogans on the store-branded bags with a sharpie? Of course, then you'd have to walk around with grocery bags proclaiming that the store in question is a big stupid poopypants, but it might just be worth it.

Not long ago, I asked the cashiers at Publix if the store gave a discount for using cloth bags. "No," she replied with great authority, "that's a NORTHERN thing, none of the stores around here do that." I smiled as I told her that the chain I usually shop, which has a location perhaps 3 miles away, does indeed offer a 5 cent discount per bag.

But sadly it appears that doubling coupons is indeed a Northern thing. I haven't yet seen a store in Florida that doubles coupons. It's one of the true drawbacks to living here.

After watching the news this morning? A.I.G!!!!

One of our legislators is trying to make the bag bonus required by law. I wonder if that "our store only" rule would be legal!

What Patois said. Exactly.

THAT is a totally stupid policy, but a FANTASTIC Mad drawing. I love the fire. :)

Also, Patois makes a fine argument. I like it.

I thought the purpose of those discounts was to discourage wastefulness and promote "green living"? Looks like they forgot, or messed up their priorities...

I am weak. I am bad.

I still collect plastic.

We have a dog and we need them.

Yikes, don't everyone start throwing things at the same time!

Hmph. Nice. How earthy of them to be such clever and greedy marketers.

That is so outrageous. Unbelievable about the grocery store. I would raise hell over there. Inexcusable.
