Random 'n' ranty

Item 1. Not so much a rant, really, as another "What's the deal with..." question. Why do kids love getting their faces painted? It takes for-fricking-ever, we always have to wait in a huge line (because every other kid at the event wants her face painted too), it smears within 10 minutes, and the kid can't even see it. Why, I ask you. Why?

Item 2, in case you missed this on Twitter. It is too important for you to miss: The best search string ever. Someone arrived here at Mayberry Mom by googling "are you down with opie pee." Yeah, you know me! My friend, I hate to break it to you, but this here is a mommyblog. If you're looking for OPP, try here. Or possibly here.

Item 3. I had the most stay-at-home-momish kind of day I've ever had. School drop-off, yoga, home briefly, school volunteer thing, church thing (me and 40 old ladies in the church basement, for real), home again to clean up hideous dog accident in basement, school pick-up, back home for small window in which I accomplished one tiny work task (only because kids were watching TV and husband came home from work early), swimming lessons, home to wolf down dinner, PTA meeting. And tomorrow? Is a half-day of school. TGIF.

Thoroughly with you on the face-painting. And what's more? It's usually atrocious looking.

My oldest once had her face painted and it was this beautiful butterfly but it was at an evening family night so she had to wash it off within an hour of getting it painted. THAT was fun. We finally convinced her that since we had taken photos she'd be able to remember it always. And honestly? She does. That was 2 years ago.

I always say its less work to actually go to work!

Didn't you just want to fall over at the end of the day?

I had my husband take our daughter to dance so I could stay home and cough. Much more relaxing.

The thing about face painting is that I always insist they wash it off before bedtime and that's such a bummer.

Lots of people looking for naked mommies at The Full Mommy. Ha, if they really saw us (at least me) naked, they would run!

I don't get the face painting either. As I recall, it's pretty itchy too.

My lord that's a busy day.

And for face painting, totally agree. Why is it at every freakin' kids event? My kids don't even get it either. (thank god)

Fortunately, Q-ster still thinks face painting is icky. So much that we made a Darth Maul mask instead of makeup for Halloween. Yay! Less cleanup.

"Opie pee" is going to have me laughing for days.

And I so hear you on the day you had. I feel like I live that too often, which is exactly why I'm procrastinating on the blog blast this week. I don't have the foggiest...

Yeah Opie Pee Pee, you know me. (always makes me laugh because that also stands for Ontario Provincial Police up here. I wonder what they think of Naughty by Nature).

The face painting thing - had a mommy light bulb go off about five years ago and created my own face painting trousseau with dollar store paint brushes and face paints and a couple of eyeliner pencils. Put everything in my old Caboodles case, with attached mirror. Now I get to avoid all the other face painting because I can promise one at home on a day they can enjoy it. Another tip, press a baby wipe on the face painting and give it a little jiggle. The paint almost comes off exactly in the design and your child can hang it when it dries.
