My kind of spring cleaning

I am not talking about the real kind of spring cleaning (heaven forfend). I am lucky if I remember to change the sheets regularly, and our windows haven't been washed in at least two years.

But even though it's still freezing cold, with snow predicted for the next two days, I am on an out-with-the-old roll lately. I am mercilessly cutting Bloglines subscriptions; I just can't follow over 100 blogs anymore (but I'm sure yours is still on there). We are meeting with the accountant today to finally wrap up our 2008 taxes. I am changing my habits by shredding every day and being more thoughtful about what I eat. I am actually keeping alive the two new plants that recently came to live in our house. I am itching to put away my sweaters and corduroys in favor of skirts and t-shirts.

I can't decide what to do with all of the baby and maternity clothes, though. I know I am placing a lot of pressure on myself to make a decision, but it's driving me crazy to have all this stuff around. If we're done, I'd like to try to move on, to celebrate the new time and space it might create in our lives while also mourning the babies, real and imagined, we'll never have. If we're not done, well, time's a-wasting, you know? Limbo is just not a place I like to be.

We're in a bit of limbo as well. With the move 'at the end of the school year,' I don't even want to think of the work that lies ahead.

And yes, I'm sure my blogline is among those you kept. Heh.

And the maternity clothes thing? I really, really feel for you. Tough spot.

I am in limbo now, waiting for two months to see if we get funding from my husband's university to finish his dissertation.

If not?

Well, then we just don't know. Killing me.

I feel for you. I hope you are able to come to a decision that gives you some kind of peace. Thinking of you.

Awesome on all of the shedding and spring cleaning, but give yourself more time on the baby and maternity clothes. You deserve it after what you've been through.

I need to trim my feed subscriptions too, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. Good for you.

When we didn't think #3 would materialize I started selling and giving away some of the baby stuff. Most I discovered I didn't really need with D anyway. You could always purge some of it and see how you feel then.

Put them in storage - out of sight until you figure out your future.

I'm with the others - give yourself a little more time on the baby things. Thinking of you.

I think storage may seem like an unnecessary expense -- heck, you're talking about your taxes for Pete's sake -- but I think putting them away for a bit might let you feel a bit more off the hook.

Or not. What the hell do I know?

(And with that comment, I know I was slashed off your Bloglines. If I were ever there.)

I'm in a bit of limbo here, too. We've pondered the idea of a third, but getting through nursing school, finding a job, and ironing out a few wrinkles in our marriage will have to come first.

I'm trying to spring clean everything, too. Well, not Bloglines yet, even though I know it needs some pruning.

I so know what you mean. As far as everything, but especially blogreading. I am flailing for sure with my blog friends, there are just so many awesome people out there to read and too much to do!!! And sweetie, if you only stop by occasionally, don't worry. We'll always be buds. Especially when I steal you from Julie next time you come to town.

I hate limbo. But boy, do I understand why you're there.

Always thinking of you, always there when you need me. Don't forget that. I'll even dust baseboards.

I don't want any more children. That's just where I'm at. But I can't seem to give away my daughter's baby clothes. I gave one of her coats to my friend's child, and every time I see her wearing it, it gives me a pang... I might have to save it all for my granddaughter. (If and when.)

I agree with the others: you should give yourself more time.

you'll know when you're ready. Obviously, you're not.
