Your child might be a binky addict if

...upon being instructed to stow his Nuks in the crib so he can go downstairs for breakfast, he cheerfully complies; but only after first looking you in the eye, taking a long, deliberate drag on the Nuk in his mouth, then switching to the backup Nuk in his hand for another long, eyes-closed pull.

lololololol..that's fricken hilarious. My kids hated binkys but still, I can visualize the whole scene vividly!

Oh! My! This made me laugh. My daughter, who has her own serious addiction issues, does the same thing -- eyes slightly rolled back, an expression of bliss before finally surrendering the binky to her bed, where it is supposed to stay till she goes to sleep.

We are in serious need of a binky intervention.

LMAO. Both of my kids double-fist the soothers too.

I can see him doing that.

Anybody figured out a way to stow the thumb? Anybody?

Our kids should hang out. We'll need to make sure there are enough pacifiers to go around, party style.

ooh! ooh! That means we are for sure!

If you tell mine to put it in his crib he will pop it out, place it in the crib, not let go, think about it for a second and then snatch it back.

Ha!

My son was like that, he had a binkie until the day he turned four. And then we had a full week of withdrawal -- real withdrawal, like coming off drugs or something. Weird.

We go through phases where it seems like Q doesn't really need his "pats," in fact my parents forgot to give it to him before bed one night when they were in town, and he went to sleep just fine. Then, we let him have pats a lot when he had a bad reaction to an innocuation, and we're back where we started. Definitely an addiction. I don't think he's going to admit he has a problem though. ;)

I met a kid today who uses THREE in the crib. One in his mouth and the other two in his hands. The ones in the hands he knocks against the mouth one. His mom says he is adament about having three. It made me feel better about my gal still using (one) in the crib.

I am cracking up. I had 2 kids who couldn't live without it and 2 who could care less.
The two who used them though (and we called them paci's) Still have the oral obsession.

My oldest has a habit of chewing things down, like his mouth guard from football which only lasts a week. We started out buying him the 20 dollar one, until I saw it. You know those things are made out of the same thing as a pacifier. It was as if the dog got a hold of it.

We finally got rid of it when he was 3 and someone stole my diaper bag out of my shopping cart at
Wal-Mart. The police came and did a report because my wallet was in the diaper bag, along with all 3 of my son's paci's. So we we didn't have to take it away from him...he just always knew it was the bad guys fault.

I think it would help him now and my daughter to have one to calm themselves down. But we just had his 4500 dollar braces removed so maybe not!!

I have a soother addict at my home too. I have accepted that one day he will give it up. He's 2 and a half and the doctor said 4 is when he should be off of it.
I'm hoping the peer pressure works. At daycare he doesn't need it. At home - can't live without it.

I know you read about my daughter's binky fascination.

Here's a good story for you: my daughter must have hidden a binky in the silverware drawer last night when she was playing there. She retrieved it immediately upon coming home from school today. Smart cookie!
