My new career: Efficiency expert

It was when I noticed that the top sheet on my bed was on sideways—and decided not to fix it until the next time I wash the sheets—that I realized: “Efficient” is just “lazy” with a positive spin.

When I eat leftovers straight out of their Tupperware or ice cream from the carton: not lazy! Efficient—I save time, energy, water, dish soap.

Keeping about 25 pairs of shoes in a big pile by the back door: Efficient! No trekking all the way upstairs to find the ones we need. They're already right here!

Dealing with a dirty tablecloth by flipping it over to the clean side? Efficient!

Leaving dog hair on the floor? Efficient (it only keeps recurring, why not sweep it up every few days instead of every few hours?) and healthful!

What are you lazy about? I'm sure I can find a way to make it into a good thing.

LOL! It's Not Wasteful.

You were not wasting your time on an unimportant task wrt the sheets.

You were not wasting resources by eating out of the container.

In addition to Efficient you are also Conserving.

Lazy is never changing the sheets or not washing the Tupperware when it's empty. ;)

I'm lazy about filling in free time. I prefer to laze about instead of you know, go somewhere and do something.

Great!!! It's all semantics...efficient sounds so uch better than lazy!

I loved your take on If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. And I thought I was being so original!

By not bathing my girls every day I'm conserving precious water! Especially since we haven't had real rain in weeks! And I also don't bother to wash my hair daily either.

I'm thinking of somehow recycling our dogs' hair into some sort of pillow stuffing or something. God knows there is enough dog hair in my house on a daily basis to do something like that! ;)

jitta (my roommate) and i both have a habit of doing laundry and not putting it away. instead, we just slowly wear the clothes directly out of the laundry basket until it's time to do it again. putting the clothes into dressers and closets is just an unnecessary middle step. :-P

When the dog scratches at the door, I often just stay on the couch and tell her to come lie down...because I know she'll have to go again later anyway. Might as well get it out all at once ,right?

Tablecloth? There's one example of my laziness. What tablecloth?

I wait until I have a giant stack of paperwork on the kitchen desk before I take it upstairs to the office, where it sits until I've made at least three trips up there with stacks of paperwork before anything is filed. Efficient, no?

I love it! I'm so glad someone has the same views about a lot things like I do....like those tumbleweeds of dog hair!

I hopped over here from Lene's blog! I'll be back for sure!

Were you in PR? If not, you SHOULD have been. heehee.

I'm totally with you on all of those things... Especially the dog hair on the floor. :-)

Gasp! I thought I was the only one who did that with the tablecloth...

OMG, you just made me realize how freaking efficient I am! We are apparently living parallel lives--our shoe pile is by the front door and the garage door, our sheets are typically in a pile in the middle of the bed--why make it if you are just going to get back in it in a few hours?

We don't tend to mail right away, so much more efficient if we wait a few weeks so it can ALL go to the shredder.

Didn't wash my hair today - saving water, for sure. You have excellent marketing spin!

I like that... I'm not lazy, just efficient (besides, those spiders way up high in the corner take care of the flying insects).

Okay seriously....what am I lazy about?

As a preventative to carpal tunnels syndrome I'm going to forgo my lazy list!

But I love yours! It shows me another side of you that I like and perhaps a common trait

Wow, that pretty well describes my life. Sheets? Check. Leftovers? Check. Shoes? Check. And that dog thing would be me if we had a dog.

I do the turn over thing with my bathroom rugs. It makes them last twice as long between washings.

I don't know if this counts, but when Myles was first born, I would change his diaper every time he peed or pooped. We were going through like 15 a day. Now after getting peed and pooped on on the changing table several times, or having to change another diaper after I just changed one, I've learned to wait a bit.

I am the king of efficiency! And I am the laziest man on the planet! I plan routes out for our errands so we don't have to double-back on any spot.

I also do the hardest things first. That way I can coast through the rest of the day/project/whatever.
